Der Ölbaum

Der Olbaum is een drieluik dat de ziel van het Mallorcaanse binnenland vangt. Tijdens een reis over het eiland maakten de eeuwenoude olijfbomen een diepe indruk: grillige stammen, verweerde huid, wortels die zich als sculpturen in het droge land verankeren. In de zinderende zon veranderden de kleuren voortdurend — van stoffig oker tot warm groen en verzadigd bruin.

In dit werk komen die indrukken samen. De panelen tonen de kracht en stilte van het landschap, de warmte van het licht en de tijdloosheid van de olijfboom zelf. Het drieluik ademt rust, ritme en herinnering; een momentopname van een plek die blijft nazinderen.

Der Olbaum is a triptych that captures the soul of Mallorca’s inland landscape. While travelling across the island, the ancient olive trees made a lasting impression — their twisted trunks, weathered surfaces, and sculptural roots anchored deep in the dry earth. In the shimmering heat, the colours of the land shifted constantly, from dusty ochre to warm greens and rich browns.

This work brings those impressions together. The three panels reflect the strength and stillness of the landscape, the warmth of the Mediterranean light, and the timeless presence of the olive tree itself. The triptych radiates calm, rhythm, and memory; a moment suspended in time, echoing long after you look away.
